The Mission of Above Grounds.
The mission of Above Grounds™ is
to bring Christians in Austin together.
We are guided by the principles of Christianity and are inspired by the example of our Lord Jesus Christ to help build a strong Christian community right here in Austin, Texas, for the ultimate purpose of making disciples of Christ .
We promote a regular fellowship of believers outside of church walls, as well as in church.
First
We are a needed liaison. We are facilitating the coming together of Christians and churches in Austin through this web site. This web site will become the center for Christian churches, bands, organizations, ministries, and individuals to post announcements of events that they would like others, outside of their church or group, to know about. This enables a particular ministry, for example, to gain the support of many more Christians in Austin than before this liason existed. Or, if a church is holding a benefit concert for a missionary team travelling abroad, they will notify Above Grounds, who will then post this event and highlight it as the date approaches - thus helping to unite Christians across Austin to further a great cause that otherwise goes relatively unoticed by the community. Finally, there are over 100 Christian bands in Austin, but nobody knows about them. Here lies a problem that now has a solution. Above Grounds will be promoting many great local Christian artists and bands and providing them with the means to get their ministry of music out to the Christian community in Austin.
Second
We will provide a place outside of church, a coffee shop, for Christians to fellowship.
In the near future, an Above Grounds
coffee shop will wil be an ideal place for Christians to fellowship, meet, or just hang out. This coffee shop will be a primary venue for Christian bands of all kinds — including gospel, rock, classical, praise, contemporary, etc.— and will have an uplifting and encouraging atmosphere.
This Christian coffeehouse, as opposed to a regular coffeehouse, will be designed to be a light in the city of Austin; it wil be a place to listen to Christian bands, artists, and speakers, and a place for these bands to play, a place to pray, an alternative to Austin's downtown scene, and a place to just hangout and drink a cup of Jo or have a smoothie.
