Progeny is an edgy Christian acoustic rock band from San Antonio, consisting of husband/wife duo Ben and Rachel Toalson, and drummer Dustin Maybin. Signed to MakeShift Records in 2004, the band travels across Texas to lead worship at church services, Bible studies, Emmaus gatherings, retreats and youth camps and to play energetic concerts featuring their original music. Combining a rock worship style with melodic tunes and creatively crafted harmonies, their sound has been dubbed “refreshing” and “soothing” by youth ministers, worship leaders and pastors around Texas. But the most important aspect of their music, they say, is its ministry. Their songs speak of raw struggles in the Christian life, our responsibility as the light of the world and the hope that our life pursuit of Jesus always brings. It’s an experience they hope will leave audiences not just wanting more of them but wanting more of God.
Ben and Rachel welcomed their first child, a son, into the world during the Thanksgiving holiday. During concerts, Jadon Toalson can usually be heard happily “singing” along.
