About Above Grounds. In the Spring of 2006, Above Grounds began as an idea for a Christian coffeeshop/music venue, and has since turned into something much more than a coffeeshop. The mission of the organization - connecting Christians in Austin - has remained the same, but the way the organization is working to accomplish this mission is constantly evolving and improving. This website is only one way to connect the Christian body in Austin. Above Grounds does its best to attend events and work with other organizations to most effectively and efficiently accomplish their mission. Without prayer and the Lord's constant guidance, their work would be fruitless. The Above Grounds team consists strictly of volunteers who put in countless hours to helping connect the body of Christ in Austin.
